The possibility of Brexit on 31 October was finally eliminated. The Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the Council of the European Union, who met for two hours this morning in the presence of Special Negotiator Michel Barnier, agreed only on the principle of extending Brexit and even in writing, without an extraordinary Summit, but they did not end up in prolongation, subject to French reservations.

The decision to extend can be delayed either until November 15 or until January 31. Again cautiously, as the scenarios get complicated.

For this reason, they will meet again next week, with two key scenarios: either a three-month extension, especially if elections are called in the UK, with the option of speeding up withdrawal if the Agreement is ratified earlier by the House of Commons, or a minor possibly extending until 15 November, which will make it easier for the British side to vote on the applicable laws of the Withdrawal Agreement.

President Tusk reportedly asked the Member States to complete a written exchange of views by next Monday.

In Britain, Finance Minister Sajid Javid said today that “Britain’s ruling Conservative Party will continue to urge parliament to support early elections if MPs do not approve their vote”.

“We will vote on the proposal for parliamentary elections on Monday,” he told LBC radio.

“If Labor Party does not support it in this vote, then we will continue to call for parliamentary elections and submit proposals for voting again and again,” he continued.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is seeking early parliamentary elections to overcome the impasse over the Brexit process, while the Labor Party wants to back such a move before it has ensured that any possible exit from table B is left. the EU.
