CSR HELLAS, as part of its CEASE European Transnational Violence Action Program
on the basis of gender, successfully implemented 5 training workshops on “Domestic Violence and Workplace Violence”
environment »to its member businesses that have expressed interest and support in the program,
and in particular, to the companies AB VASILOPOULOS, PPC, PPC RENEWABLE, HELLENIC PETROLEUM, HYGIENE GROUP,
OTE GROUP, PAPASTRATOS, TITAN, TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS, PIRAEUS BANK and VODAFONE.
The executives of the above companies, who are responsible or in contact with the staff, were trained in the concept of
domestic violence, its impact on the working lives of victims, the recognition of
warning signs of violence, support and management of worker-victims of domestic violence, and
understanding their role in combating the phenomenon. The content of the training is holistic
approach aiming through experiential and interactive learning methods: understanding the subject, providing
practical tools / ways to support and empower workers-victims of domestic violence within
of their work framework, with information on such issues as: the implications of domestic violence in
children, the support mechanisms in Greece and the legal process followed.
A total of about 100 executives were trained in the period June – July 2019, in order to fill the gap that
there is training for business executives in this field. Partner in education
was the Municipality of Athens with the Hostel of Abused Women – Victims of Violence & Their Children and the Department
Equality and Discrimination Policies of the Directorate of Social Solidarity, while co-sponsors were KETHI with
Athens Counseling Center and NGO Diotima and Eliza.
Gender-based violence, including domestic violence, is one of the causes that lead to inequality between
women and men. Actions such as training business executives to support women who
there is violence (as almost 90% of victims of domestic violence are women), it is vital that everyone,
from where we are, to contributing to breaking the cycle of violence and changing it in the long run
the discriminatory social models. This is an issue we are called upon to deal with
Objective # 5 “Gender equality” in the context of the challenges posed by the Sustainable Global Goals
Development.
As in Europe 1 in 3 women has suffered physical and / or sexual and / or psychological violence and with 87%
women working in the private sector, the European Commission, which co-finances the CEASE program,
has recognized the importance of business involvement in tackling the phenomenon by strengthening them
training, collaboration, information and action efforts to address it, which is one of
its priorities.
Finally, CSR HELLAS intends to extend the implementation of these trainings to as many as possible
businesses, while it is expected to complete the creation of a relevant e-learning teacher in the fall
tool.
